No U.S. without Mexicans   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  As a Mexican American in the United States I can honestly say that Spanish colonialism plays a crucial role in understanding the history of Mexicans in the United States. Spanish colonialism brought forth many factors that shaped the Mexican. One huge factor is religion. The Spanish brought a unified form of religion, we know it as Christianity. Secondly, with its priority of converting the indigenous people to Christianity, they migrated and created pueblos in what is now part of South Western United States. With its expansion and creation of Haciendas and Ranchos, the Spanish created a new style of culture, which is important in the shaping of the Mexican in the United States.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  One of the most influential aspects of the Mexican in the United States is his religious beliefs. If not for the Spanish and their devotion to convert people to Christianity, life would be differently for the average Mexican. Spiritually, the Mexican looks to god for guidance and support. Growing up in a Mexican household, I can say that religion played an enormous role in my life. As a family, we would attend church every Sunday. I also attended catechism through the course of my childhood, which shaped me into the individual that I am today.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  With its expansion of Christianity, the Spanish Colonialism created Haciendas, Ranchos and pueblos in the Southwestern United States. With these Haciendas and ranchos the Spanish brought a unique form of architecture. This Spanish Style architecture as it is now known is evident throughout the southwestern United States today. Large portions of Chicanos live in homes that are influenced by the expansion of Spanish colonialism. Spanish style architecture, with its enormous archways and brick cultured construction is one of the most elaborate and popular forms of architecture found today. Within these haciendas lies a cattle cultured economy which is extremely important now in the United States. The Spanish brought horses, cows, goats, and sheep to the United States. Cattle play a role on just about every person in the United States, for the United States thrives as a meat eating country. With the creation of haciendas a new style of culture would be created from th ese flourishing communities.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Mexican culture is extremely important in the lives of a Mexican. Religion, food, folklore as well as community contribute to the culture of a Mexican. The Spanish culture is well and alive throughout the United States.

Outcasts

Huston Outcasts in Society Outcasts are often alienated due to the fact that they do not follow the social norm. They are often judged without the consideration of their circumstances. We as a society view outcasts as damaged goods and don’t give them a chance. We as a society should give everyone the courtesy of an open mind. Outcast are often those who don’t conduct themselves in the manner society thinks they should. As shown: Hester committed adultery, a crime that is a serious sin to her community. (The Scarlett Letter) Outcasts sometimes have done nothing wrong.They are segregated because of the stereotypes that hang over their heads like a storm cloud. As we saw the black man was often avoided and even feared just because society back then view African Americans as dangerous. (Black Men in Public Spaces) In some cases people are made outcasts because of personality. A lamb is born innocent while a tiger is considered dangerous from birth. (the tiger and the lamb) Outcasts in our society are treated differently from others. they are often the subject of your ridicule. They also are commonly left out.No one in your science class talks to that weirdo who talks to himself because he has been deemed unfit and you do not want to be in the same boat for talking to him. Hester was forced to ware a red A on her chest as a reminder not only to her community but to herself that she will never become an accepted member of her society. (the scarlet letter) . In some cases out casts are avoided like when the white people would do every thing they could to avoid the black man. (black men in public spaces). Some out casts have no control over what makes them an out side.A person does not get to choose the color of his skin, yet some people judge u based off of that fact alone. Our society needs to become more tolerant of every one because we all aren’t given the same opportunities in life . me must judge people with their circumstances in mind not j ust what we see when we look at them. Hester did cheat on her husband but she thought that he was dead and she never loved him in the first place, but all that her community cared about was what she did not why she did it (the scarlet letter). e as a society must look at the good in every one rather than the bad. we choose the level of your worth based on the bad things that you have done in the past. every one has made a mistake before but not every one is a good person. In the end we are no different from those we avoid. We all have a beating heart and a will to be accepted by others. our society needs to be more tolerant because everyone is the same on the inside. .our society will always have out casts but in order for us to grow we need to give every one a fair trial before we sentence them to a life alone.

Beauty and Evil are never far apart in Keatss poetry† how far do you agree with this view? â€Å"She seem’d, at once, some penanced lady elf, Some demon’s mistress, or the demon’s self.† Beauty and evil cannot come much closer than when being in the same quote, and much of Keats’s work is pockmarked with references to these two seemingly unrelated conditions, and I feel is notable, if not key, to much of Keats’s work. In a way it could be said to symbolise Keats’s â€Å"bitter-sweet melancholy†; the idea which all the Romantics referenced, and which Keats literally lived, with the fact that he had just met the love of his life, and was just coming to prominence, but at the same time would soon be claimed by tuberculosis. The beauty of his work,†¦show more content†¦She also gives the many guests fine wine to dull their senses even further to help them accept more easily and more completely the illusion she has created for them. It is sad then, when reality, or more correctly Apollonius and so cold reason, comes in and tears her utopia apart; resulting in her death. This also shows the third and final beauty evil connection, when L ycius dies with her, showing love and loss, how the beauty of love can be so overpowering, and overwhelm the senses that the loss of such a force in one’s life can lead to death. Or in the case of Keats himself his death will result in the loss of love for Fanny Brawne. Lycius’ pursuit of Lamia, or more his persistence in showing off his trophy to the whole town is his downfall from the pursuit of their ideal love, and so when introduced into the reality of the world and what real love is expected to do, is a portend to her demise, by proxy, at his hand. â€Å"la belle dame sans merci† is a poem which has such specific nuances of Lamia, it depicts perfectly how Keats used beauty and evil were never far apart in the majority of his poetry; for to have two poems with such similarities is no mere coincidence. La belle is the story of a knight emasculated, for want of a better word, by a chance encounter with a supernatural lady. It is the story as recounted by the knight and so cannot be believed entirely, it must be taken with a pinch of salt
